Good morning, Happy Warriors! ๐
Common sense has re-entered the room!
Today is Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
Hereโs a Bible verse with a good reminder as you continue this week:
โI will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon youโ Psalm 32:8
And now, hereโs this weekโs edition of โWhatโs Up, America? ๐บ๐ธโ as I head back to school this morning:

Back in 2020, if Donald Trump were to attend the Super Bowl, players would have protested and kneeled or stayed in the locker room. This past weekend, he walked out on the field and players ran off in droves during practice to wait in line just to shake his hand.
What's different? The national vibe has changed! It's once again cool to be conservative, and the trend is spreading across the country!
I'm old enough to remember Trump coming to my home state in 2017 for a rally and referring to NFL players as "S.O.B.s" for kneeling during the anthem and disrespecting our flag. Sunday, the president happily flew all the way to New Orleans to watch the 59th Super Bowl and cheer on the nation in the biggest sporting event in America and made history as the first president to do so!
We all remember the Colin Kaepernick era when the kneeling trend left a stain on our nation. That same quarterback referred to Trump as "openly racist", without proof to support his argument, of course, and started a national debate that divided an already divided country even more and made patriotism levels amongst my fellow Gen Z peers hit an all-time low. Fast forward eight years, and Chris Jones from the Chiefs ran off the field and pushed through security last night to greet the same president when he arrived, who was once referred to by one of Jones' fellow players as "openly racist".
This vibe shift didn't just start this weekend. Over the course of the entire past NFL season, players all across the country popularized the "Trump Dance" and celebrated in the end zone after big touchdowns by moving their fists back and forth as Trump famously does to The Village People track as the grand finale to his rallies. Four years ago, public outrage would have resulted in those dancing players posting apology statements on social media the next morning for their "insensitive and out-of-touch actions". Thankfully, today, players can openly support their Commander in Chief without fear of penalty or being canceled.
Generation Z reflected this new "coolness" at the ballot box in November. According to NBC News, Trump picked up a larger proportion of voters under 30 than any Republican presidential candidate since 2008, and a large part of that new coalition were first-time voters like myself getting off the sideline, breaking the expected norm, and supporting a Republican. NBC's exit polls also reported that "the economy ranked as the most important issue among young voters, and those who chose it as the top issue voted for Trump 78% to Harrisโ 21%".
During the anthem this weekend, when the 47th President was shown on the jumbotron, cheers broke out, and the Superdome was engulfed in prideful, patriotic applause as their Commander-in-Chief saluted the flag. Later in the game, when the Chief's tight end's infamous girlfriend was shown on the same jumbotron, the fans booed her until they took her off the screen. If you told me this time four years ago that Donald Trump would be cheered as the president again at the Super Bowl and Taylor Swift would be booed off the screen, I'd have called you crazy because a comeback in February of 2021 for the 45th President was deemed virtually impossible and the "Shake it Off" singer was one of the most popular humans on the planet - but thankfully, here we are!
In Kamala Harris' own words, America is officially unburned by what has been, and that has been is protesting anything Trump-related. Now, in today's America, from NFL players at the Super Bowl to college students on campuses across the nation, the vibes have changed and it's once again cool to be a conservative!
