Good morning, Happy Warriors! 👋
Common sense has re-entered the room!
Today is Wednesday, April 23, 2025.
Here’s a Bible verse with a good reminder this week:
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13.
And now, here’s this week’s edition of “What’s Up, America? 🇺🇸” as I head off to school this morning:
🗣️ My Speech at the Alabama State House
Last Wednesday, I had the honor of addressing the Alabama House GOP Caucus at the State House in Montgomery, a moment that felt like a pinch-yourself milestone. Standing before state leaders in my home state as a high school senior to advocate for Generation Z’s voice in politics was both humbling and electrifying. My message was clear: it’s time for my generation to claim a seat at the table, and I’m here to help make that happen.
Walking into the State House, I felt the weight of history in its halls - decades of decisions that shaped Alabama and our nation. Yet, I also felt the urgency of the present. Gen Z is coming of age in a world of economic uncertainty, cultural shifts, and political polarization. We’re not just the future; we’re the now, and our perspectives are critical to crafting policies that will define the next era. My goal was to convey to the caucus that engaging young voters isn’t just a strategy - it’s a necessity for the GOP and our state’s future.
I was invited by Representative Matt Woods to be the speaker at the House GOP Caucus lunch. I began by sharing my story, from launching The Truth Gazette at 11 to publishing my bestselling book, One Generation Away: Why Now Is the Time to Restore American Freedom. My journey proves that age doesn’t limit impact. I urged the legislators to see Gen Z not as apathetic but as a generation eager for authentic engagement. Too often, young people are dismissed as distracted by TikTok or protests, but I’ve seen firsthand - through my “Get Off the Sidelines” tour across college campuses - that my peers are hungry for real conversations and real change.
The 2024 election showed what’s possible. Exit polls revealed 46% of 18- to 29-year-olds backed President Trump, a 10-point jump from 2020, driven by innovative outreach like podcasts and influencer campaigns I helped champion. Alabama’s young voters contributed to that shift, and I told the caucus we can’t let that momentum fade. By 2026, Gen Z will be an even larger voting bloc. If the GOP wants to stay relevant, we must keep young voices at the forefront, not as tokens but as partners.
I proposed practical steps: invite Gen Z to policy roundtables, amplify our voices on social media, and mentor young leaders for local office. I also emphasized listening - Gen Z values authenticity over platitudes. We want leaders who tackle our concerns, like job opportunities and education reform, with bold, common-sense solutions.
The caucus lunch was a highlight - great food, better company, and a shared optimism about Alabama’s future. I fielded questions about engaging young women voters, a group where Democrats still hold an edge, and stressed addressing issues like economic opportunity with clarity and heart. The legislators’ enthusiasm reaffirmed my belief that Alabama’s GOP is ready to embrace the next generation.
I followed up the lunch by meeting with the Lt. Governor, Senate Pro Tempore, House Majority Leader, and my local State Senator.
Leaving the State House, I felt a fire to keep pushing. My visit wasn’t just about one speech; it was a call to action for Gen Z to step up and for leaders to make room.
As I head to Auburn University this fall, I’m committed to carrying this message forward, inspiring my peers to fight for their seat at the table. Together, we can shape a future that honors America’s greatness while meeting the challenges of today. Alabama’s bright future starts with us - Gen Z, bold and ready.
