I’m Generation Z. Here's why I support President Trump!
A first-time voters take on the state of the race
As the famous Crosby, Stills and Nash song lyrics go, “Teach the children well…” and give them a code that they can live by.
As we are quite into coding, Generation Z happens to know precisely the code by which we wish to live: a world in which President Donald J. Trump is back in the White House, providing opportunities to every American to live freely.
As both parties work overtime to win the youth vote this year, I’d like to enlighten our adult counterparts on some key reasons why I and my fellow Generation Z voters have decided to support President Trump in 2024:
“NO TAX ON TIPS” — First, Trump’s new policy that will protect restaurant workers' tips from being taxed has gone viral on social media: photos of people tipping “bigly” and snapping photos as they scrawl the moniker, “Trump won’t tax your tips!” on restaurant receipts. This viral trend cannot be ignored: it is significant for young Generation Z voters working in service industries across America. Trump’s approach would mean more take-home-pay for young people who rely on tips as a substantial part of their income and allow Gen Z to put more money back into their pockets and into their communities.
“NO MANDATORY MILITARY DRAFTS for ENDLESS WARS” — Generation Z prefers a “hands off” approach to wars and foreign policy — in fact, polling shows we don’t want to be the world’s police force as the generations before us. However, we don’t support “leading from behind” as it has left our generation in terrible positioning for the future. As Commander in Chief, Trump had no new foreign wars thanks to his strong posture with other world leaders and his Reagan-esque “peace through strength” foreign policy. For young voters concerned about global conflicts, increased national debt and now a potential new military draft, Trump’s commitment to avoiding new military engagements, restoring and revitalizing our reputation worldwide and putting American might back on display can be quite appealing.
“BETTER ECONOMIC & JOB OPPORTUNITIES” — When it comes to economic growth, inflation and job creation, our greatest ability to live freely and reach our potential comes from President Trump. He rightfully emphasizes his track record of fostering a robust economy through tax cuts, deregulation, and trade policies designed to protect American jobs. For Generation Z, Bidenomics has made it harder to start a life post-college or to start a family in Biden’s economy. To the contrary, under Trump, every sector of the economy experienced record economic success: Hispanic Americans, Black Americans, and women all experienced greatest workforce participation and their lowest unemployment rates in 50 years during the Trump administration. In fact, more Americans were employed during the Trump administration during any other time in American history — a stunning 160 million Americans, according to White House archives. Under Trump, young voters can be similarly attracted to the prospect of a stronger job market and unlimited opportunities as they enter the workforce for the first time.
“MAKING AMERICA SAFE AGAIN” — Law and order has become important to Generation Z as we’re leaving the comfort and safety of our parents’ homes for the first time in our quest to attend college or to enter “the real world” as we get our first jobs. Biden’s border crisis is placing illegal immigrants into American cities and even onto college campuses, where in Georgia at least one female college student has been murdered. In fact, crime is so bad in America that the two largest cities — New York City and Los Angeles — have alarmingly stopped reporting violent crime statistics altogether to the FBI. To the contrary, Trump was a strong advocate for law and order. For young voters concerned about crime, border security and seeking a safe environment in which to live, work and study, Trump’s focus on maintaining order is compelling.
While we may not have as much experience as our parents, Generation Z knows what we want for our future: a stronger economy, stronger foreign policy, greater job opportunities and a stronger president, which will all result in a stronger America. After all, we are the ones who will soon be inheriting the country. President Trump gives us a shot at the brightest possible future.
In ironic turnabout, the Crosby, Stills and Nash song ends with even more poignant lyrics than it began. “Teach your parents well, Their children’s hell will slowly go by…”
At times it does seem America is going downhill quickly.
As problem solvers, Generation Z wants to help fix that.
In November, we hope our parents will oblige.
