Happy Independence Day…245 Years and Counting!
Happy Independence Day!
245 Years Ago today, our Founding Fathers created the greatest nation known to man, a true gift from God, the Freedom Capitol of the World - The United States of America! My favorite thing to talk about is America, and today I get to do that even more, at even greater length. My favorite thing about this great nation, is that it is The Great Experiment. You see - it wasn’t predicted to stand the test of time, our Founding Fathers created America as an experiment for Democracy, for the first time on the Global stage. But guess what? 245 years later, we’re still here. The United States of America, The Great Experiment itself, is still here, standing strong, and has stood the test of time. This country had made it through 2 World Wars, a Great Depression, 45 Presidents, and centuries of generations and cultural eras of historic moments.
In 1981, on America’s 205th Independence Day, President Ronald Reagan was asked by Parade magazine to write an op-ed of his reflections of what Independence Day meant to him. As I was looking through research for today, this quote stuck out to me for its simple yet meaningful impact. President Reagan wrote, “Let the Fourth of July always be a reminder that here in this land, for the first time, it was decided that man is born with certain God-given rights; that government is only a convenience created and managed by the people, with no powers of its own except those voluntarily granted to it by the people. We sometimes forget that great truth, and we never should.”.
Wow. Let that sink in. Re-read it again if you need to. It’s the last line that sticks out to me the most, “…We sometimes forget that great truth, and we never should.”. We sometimes forget just how lucky we are to live in a free nation. Now, I know what you’re thinking, the past year hasn’t felt very free here in America, with lockdowns and mask mandates, but compared to other countries across the world, The Great Experiment is STILL the land of the free, just as our Founding Father’s intended…and that, brings me to my next point.
Take a step back, and look at our great nation from afar. If our Founding Fathers were to come back and walk the streets of Philadelphia outside Independence Hall, where just 245 shorts years ago they were signing their names to a document that would create the greatest nation known to man…what do you think they would say? If George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, or John Adams walked through New York right now; what do you think they would think? After the overall shock that the country they created is still here, plus the major technological advancements in the past 245 years, I have a feeling they would be a little upset with the overall hatred and anti-patriotism towards America from within our own country. I think they would be appalled at the fact that American citizens are actively erasing history and calling to defund and disband police forces across the country. I can just imagine the shock on George Washington’s face when he sees the office he first held 245 years ago, currently being controlled by a party that is trying to replace America’s values with ones of a communist or socialist regime. The reason I bring this up is to inspire you to keep fighting. There are people out there who don’t want America to succeed. I don’t know about you, but after 245 years I don’t think this great nation should be brought down by a bunch of elitists who are more worried about their checkbooks than the Declaration of Independence. The United States of America was not founded on fear, it was founded on bravery!
I’m gonna finish with this. I’ve had the opportunity to do some traveling in the past year with the election going on, and let me tell you that traveling across the country has only made me even prouder to be an American. This country has some of the greatest people in the world. To this day, even just this morning, seeing patriots fly those beautiful American flags on their front porches, in their yards, and on their boats - renews my faith that there is still hope that The Great Experiment can last another 245+ years.
So Patriots, my message to you today is simple - keep flying those flags, keep fighting for our great nation, keep pushing back against those who don’t want this country to succeed, keep standing up for our founding principles and values that so many have sacrificed their lives for and never EVER give up on The United States of America.
Thank you all for reading! I hope you have a wonderful 4th of July with your family and friends, and that you enjoy the freedom that we’re so blessed to have!
God Bless You All! Happy Birthday America and Happy Independence Day, fellow Patriots!
